Ask the PT: What can the ASTYM System do for me?  View Answer

EVALUATION:

Physical Therapy begins with an extensive exam to assess pain patterns, mobility, and any neurological involvement. A treatment plan is then developed and goals are set. Exercise is integrated throughout the treatment process to help promote healing.

PROCEDURES:

Our procedures are oriented toward helping our patients increase strength; range of motion, pain relief, and to correct postural alignment.

SERVICES:

We take pride in researching and implementing the latest technology for healing and pain relief. We are the only facility in the area using Low Level Laser therapy for pain relief and the ASTYM Method for reduction of scar tissue.

We offer the following and more:

Cornerstone Physical Therapy Center is excited to announce that we now have available the latest technology in the battle to combat PAIN.

Low-level lasers have been used in Europe for many years and are considered the most popular modality. This system was originally used with documented success for the relief of hand and wrist pain associated carpal tunnel. World-wide published research indicates that the laser is also beneficial in treating many more conditions.

There are many types of medical lasers. High-power lasers are used to cut, coagulate and evaporate tissues. These lasers are used in surgery, replacing the scalpel of the surgeon. Low-level lasers are used for stimulation of cell function. They are also called bio-stimulating lasers or low-intensity lasers. The effect is not thermal as is the surgical laser. It is important to note that treatments with low-level lasers are non-invasive and pain-free, promoting a very natural healing process.

Laser technology is an electro-therapy modality that emits photons of light from specific bands of the electromagnetic energy spectrum. When light is absorbed it induces increased production of cellular energy, which leads to normalization of cell function, tissues healing, and pain relief. The theory behind the how and why are very technical but the results we are having with our patients are phenomenal.

There are positive studieson the low-level laser that show clear evidence that it is highly effective for the following conditions: chronic pain, neck and back pain, tendonitis, sports injuries, soft tissue injuries, strains/sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis/golfers elbow, fibromyalgia, migranes, plantar fasciitis, nerve regeneration, RSD, TMJ, etc. Plastic surgeons are now using the low-level laser to help speed up recovery of scar tissue.

Treatments are customized to meet teh needs and condition of each patient. We use laser therapy as an integral part of our patient's weekly treatment plan, and have seen amazing progress with some of our patients by speeding up the recovery process.

It is important to note that cold lasers are used by many professional sports teams including the Philadelphia Eagles.

What drew me to Cornerstone was reading about their low-level laser therapy. I never heard about it but first saw it on their TV commercial. Being a skeptic, but desperate for help, I though I would give it a try. I can’t believe the relief I have experienced. I’m not a skeptic anymore
